"AGAINST ALL ODDS"
with special guests, Mark and Ginger Whitacre
(This event is open to both men and women.)
About our Guest Speakers...
Mark Whitacre was a business executive who came to public attention in 1995 when, as president of the BioProducts Division at Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), he became the highest-level corporate executive in U.S. history to become an FBI whistleblower.
For three years Whitacre acted as an informant for the FBI, which was investigating ADM for price fixing. In apparent retaliation for his role as an informant, ADM investigated Whitacre's activities and, upon discovering suspicious activity, requested the FBI investigate Whitacre for embezzlement. As a result of $9.5 million in various frauds, Whitacre lost his whistleblower's immunity, and consequently spent eight-and-a-half years in federal prison.
Mark's wife, Ginger, forced Mark to turn himself into the FBI the very day she learned of the price fixing and embezzlement. Without her role in the case, the largest price fixing case in history would never have happened.
Mark's undercover work with the FBI during the ADM scandal was the inspiration for the 2009 major motion picture, "The Informant," starring Matt Damon as Mark Whitacre, and the 2010 Discovery Channel documentary "Undercover" archived on Mark Whitacre's website, www.markwhitacre.com.
At the dinner, Mark will share how his time in federal prison resulted in a personal and spiritual transformation and Ginger will share how her role in the case has impacted both their lives.
